Removing fringes while creating compositions
While cutting out or transforming images, it may happen that some of the pixels surrounding the selection border are included with the selection. This can result in a fringe around the edges of the edited selection, which results in low quality output on image manipulation. We can off course fix it with the Pen Tool which guarantees the best output. However, it requires longer time and involves lots of hard work. So, for the quick result with good, here are some simple steps that can be followed to overcome those fringes.
Creating a composition
Here we have two images that need to be complied together. We want to make a composition of the image of the ship (1) and the image of the water and the sunset (2). End result will be ship sailing on the sea.
Halo effect
As seen below, the ship (1) gets a lots of fringes in the rope areas when placed in sea background (2).
Matting option in Photoshop
There is an easy way to solve the problem. In Photoshop, select the layer of the ship. Go to Layer > Matting > Remove White matte.
Final result
We bet you will simply love the final result!
